It's time for a hiking trip to the Harz National Park.
The Harz is the highest mountain range in Northern Germany. Our destination will be the Brocken, which is the highest peak of the Harz mountain range with a height of 1141 meters (3744 ft) above sea level.
We will meet at Halle central station at 7.30 am and take the train to Wernigerode. Then we will take the bus to a small town from where we will start hiking.
At the summit you will have enough time to enjoy the view and brace yourself for the way back.
Depending on what time we will be back in Wernigerode there might be enough time for a short city tour and visit of the castle.
What you have to bring along:
- The most important thing: proper footgear! We will use hiking trails which are not a good fit for high heels etc.
- Sufficient food and drinks! There will be no opportunity to buy anything until we arrive at the top of the mountain. We will take a few breaks, which will be perfect opportunities to have a picnic in the open countryside.
- Appropriate clothing! We can’t see into the future and therefore don’t know how the weather will be. There is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing ;)
The participation fee for this trip will be 10€ (9€ with ESNcard), which includes all costs for transportation and little surprises during the hike.
You can register for the trip here: http://
The registration deadline for this trip is October, 11th.
We are looking forward to this trip!
