Dear international students and friends,

Weimar offers you art, history and literature, all in one day. It’s not only home to the Bauhaus University which unites art, architecture, and design, but also one of the places where Goethe and Schiller, Germany’s most famous poets, spent a large part of their lives. Its old buildings, like the national theater, and little parks will definitely leave a lasting impression on you, just like it’s rich and often terrifying history from World War 2.

Once in the city, we will do a guided tour (in English) to show you all of Weimar’s cultural variety. After the sightseeing, you have two choices: Either you stay in the city center to enjoy some free time and maybe visit one of the museums (Schiller-Haus, Anna-Amalia-Bibliothek, Bauhaus… ) or you can visit the concentration camp Buchenwald with us. There will be no tour here so that you are free to learn about World War 2 history in your own pace. For those who like background information, an audio guide is available.
